It’s essentially supply and demand. If the data center is willing to pay more, then everyone has to pay more. I hate it.

A chat bot can present ads better than search result (if by better you mean in a way that is harder to see). If you ask for a recipe it can sprinkle in name brand ingredients. You ask for directions it can use chain restaurant landmarks. You ask for a summary of a sporting event it also mentions the stadium/halftime/beverage sponsor.
