Reddit is doing fine and Reddit is fine are two different things.

Most users complain consistently about it. That’s not a good sign for them.

Their popular posts don’t get as many upvotes/comments as they used to. There’s definitely a decline in usage.

It’s being overrun by bots.

Tons of people are getting bot banned off the platform.

It’s not like it’s going to just disappear anytime soon. But I’ve seen this many times before. It’s a dying platform. But it’ll be a slow death. And by death I mean it’ll just become irrelevant compared to other platforms. It’ll probably never actually go away. No one I know uses Facebook anymore. It used to be HUGE. We ALL used it. Now it’s a ghost town on my feed. I’ve messaged people and never got a response and run into them at a birthday or something months later and “Oh sorry, I don’t check it anymore”. It’s still there, but may as well not be. That’s Reddit’s future.

I’m down to only using Old Reddit on desktop while I’m stuck at work on weekdays. No time for that shithole on weekends.

If Old Reddit goes, that’ll be it for Reddit for me.

Anything you can do on a Mac/iPhone you can do on a PC/Android for half the price. Windows is a much more compatible and intuitive OS. And so is Android.

Source: I’ve worked in IT for over 20 years. I’ve worked with a ton of other techs. They all hated Apple. I actually just got done working on a Mac that our media department brought me because they were also tricked by advertising into thinking you need a Mac to do media stuff. It was a nightmare and my hatred for Apple has only increased.

P.S. Please don’t bother telling me how Linux is superior to Windows. I know Lemmy likes Linux. I don’t care. It’s not as compatible as Windows and not suitable for a work environment. I have my problems with Microsoft. This comment is about hating Apple more.

It would have been the 3rd party app thing, but I exclusively use Reddit on my desktop at work. I got better things to do on weekends.

I’m entirely capable of circumventing Reddit bans and I’m probably on my 50th+ account by now. I spend most of my time here, but I still have a Reddit account for various reasons. If they finally nuke old.reddit I will at long last peace out for good and never look back. Every time I log in I expect it’ll be gone. Reddit excels at making awful decisions regarding their platform.

I literally just got suspended 15 minutes ago for promoting violence for pointing out that America is going to see a rise in terrorism going forward for our actions in the middle east.

And I know I’m not shadowbanned cuz I know how to check that. This’ll probably be my 50-70th Reddit account in the last decade. Which means Reddit has been trying and failing to keep me off their platform for a decade. I don’t even care that it’s just a 3 day suspension. I’m not going to be silenced for 3 days.
