havent built a new PC since 2019 but when I did, I specifically picked AMD because of the Specter problem that existed at the time. havent looked back since.
I was about to get extremely upset, and then I remembered I haven’t used intel since 2012.
Didn’t a year ago or so, Some European lawmaker made a vague hint in support of something that involved regulations on social media, and Elon replied “go fuck yourself” verbatem?
Play hardball, or surrender and give them what they want. there’s no compromise or middle ground with these techbro fascists
I quit facebook about 5 months ago, when I finally snapped at just how vapid people were. The keyboard warrior energy was too much to bear. and that was on top of the political news spam.
news is actually banned from facebook in our country because of the rampant disinformation associated with it. so spammers got around it by disguising news as really shamless product advertisements, stuff like
“NDP LEADER JAGMEET SINGH KILLED IN FATAL CAR ACCIDENT, ON LIVE TELEVISION” - and it’s an advertisement for some Chatgpt generated lifestyle blog. Advertisement posted by an unverified account in Hungary or some shit
its probbly the rear projection. it looked like this, but my memory tells me it was quite a bit bigger https://i.redd.it/ig6k6bngyaca1.jpg
edit - its actually probably that same model i linked or a bigger version of the same line, its an RCA, I know they had a lot of those throughout the years, my grandfather ran a furinture, electronics, appliance and computer store in the early 2000s and the house was always full of Panasonic, RCA, and “Zenith” electronics. As well as the occasional thing from the more well known brands like Hitachi, Toshiba, and Sony.
but Zenith and RCA were dominant there
double edit - it appears RCA went defunct before I was even born, so if it was an RCA it would have been something he bought used, or had kicking around from before I was born.
this just sent me down a nostalgia rabbithole.
in the late 90s and early 2000s my grandparents had two interesting Televisions in the house, one was a very large CRT TV that they kept using until the late 2000s or early 2010s. but the other was an ENORMOUS flatscreen that was so big it looked like a CRT on the back, I dont even know what kind of technology it was, Im assuming it wasn’t a CRT though if this one here in this video is the largest, because the one they had was 2-3 times its size horizontally. (they had it in the late 90s, Im g oing to assume it was an early version of a plasma but im not sure really)
They are end of life now and have ceased production, but if you can manage to find a 5800X3D , that CPU is the definition of sleeper. I had a 5700X I think it was, and the performance boost was f***ing unreal, I expected meagre gains, I saw 20 to 50% performance increase on many games. if you’re into that kind of thing. if you see one for sale, seriously think about grabbing it.
its the whole reason aside from the OS issue, Im not even remotely worried about the next few years, it can compete with the high end stuff of the AM5 generation still. unreal.
might have been a deal. some retailers are dumb and think lower number means worse, so discount justified. lol
Realistically the AM4 is still more than enough for now. but its technically end of life. the AM5 isn’t worth the jump until theres no other option.
Its just gonna be a question of how unsecure Win10 gets , and how fast.
My pc is from 2019, although I’ve upgraded the hardware several times. But I’ve basically reached a ceiling of practicality, its no longer practical to upgrade anything. Im on an outdated chipset (AM4) and jumping from a 3080 to a 4080 isn’t really going to fix the problem of games just being unoptimized. It makes more sense to build a new PC than it does to just change OS on this.
but right now, it just doesnt make sense to build a new PC either… I dont lift a finger on anything unless im going to be able to see at minimum 20% performance increase, I just dont see that without emptying my savings account…
I have about 7-9 months to decide what to do with my PC. I don’t want to move to windows 11. Because I will have to basically fresh-install my entire system that has 4 drives and god knows how many antiquated programs on it from the XP, Vista and 7 era that I still use. and Im just not ready for it. Im too busy
headache
I used to say those same things, now I basically just keep messenger as a job requirement but the rest of it can F off
marketplace is nothing but spam and scam, and those “friends” the only ones I care to talk to, use discord, or regular phone text
