Google Nose?
(Yes, that was real, and yes, that was an April Fools joke)
And now I wish I was in the EU, at least so that Big Tech doesn’t shit on me repeatedly.
I still rely on it for the Google Assistant, possibly the only Google related thing I still use that isn’t YouTube.
And no, I’m not switching to Gemini.
Guys, I’m actually getting nostalgic over the messy-but-still-kinda-fun 2010s. Everything was just so much more exciting back then, and if it was absolute garbage, it was still fun to make fun of it (cough cough 2013 Mac Pro, garbage quite literally).
Yeah, it was no “sunshine and lollipops” timeline, but still, over the literal boring hell of the 2020s, it was LEAGUES better.
Does anyone get reminded of Nineteen Eighty-Four? No? Just me? Ok…
Love that name too. Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots.
I guess I was wrong in some way.
I guess I’ve been away from Facebook long before this started showing up.
Whenever I propose a solution, someone [justifiably] finds a problem within it.
I got nothing else. Sorry, OP.
Even if it wasn’t full of hatred, it’s still a pretty big waste of time, even before the Muskrat was in charge.
Sometimes, when dual booting Windows and Linux, especially on the same drive, the Windows installation just breaks. Sends you to automatic repair only for it to not work.
I learned this the hard way.
I thought it has been this way for like… a decade?
What makes you think I’m making up a word? This is a real thing.
Create a bot that reports bot activity to the Lemmy developers.
You’re basically using bots to fight bots.
So glad DankPods has a presence on that site
New knowledge. Thanks.
The Steam Deck exists. It runs Linux. It’s even an actual computer that you can plug a display, keyboard, and mouse into, and then gawk at the wonderful KDE Plasma desktop environment that this thing ships with. Sure, not all Steam games work on this thing, but you still have access to a lot of stuff.
But I suppose some folks will insist to install Windows on it, or get a Windows based alternative.
Merci, union européenne
Hey, let’s do it in all official languages of the EU. So far we’ve had English and French.
They could start by blocking the biggest instances, then slowly chasing after the smaller ones.
There’s not an infinite amount of instances, even if new ones are made, they’ll get all of them eventually. So this is basically a cat and mouse game.
So, basically the description of dystopia as seen in 1984 is applied differently depending on which country you live in, but it still technically exists everywhere. And that’s just depressing.
