If it doesn’t do it on its own, one of 2 things will happen:

1. They get bought out, which almost always results in a bump.
2. The government bails them out, which is an even bigger bump.

My Galaxy Note 8 is a backup phone. It was a flagship when it launched, yeah. But even so, it’s 7 years old, the last update for it was over 2.5 years ago, and it’s still chugging along like a champion.

Smartphone design is mostly a solved problem. Take today’s screens and processors and throw in a few features from the past (removable storage, IR blaster, and headphone jack) and you have a 10-year phone.

I used to get a new phone every year because phone got way better each generation.

My phone is top-tier from 2021 (Z Fold 3), and I have had zero temptation from the newer versions. All they really have is faster processing, but since all apps are designed to run well on budget phones from 5 years ago, there’s no reason to upgrade.

I still can’t believe nothing substantive came of that.

It was incredibly harmful to the reputation and stock value of multiple pharmaceutical companies as well as Twitter. And then the greedy pharma assholes had to publicly announce they were still price-gauging people for life-sustaining medicine, making the reputational damage even worse.

If someone hasn’t made a 3D printable model for IR glasses I think I may make one this weekend.

With a model file, 20 cents of filament, a few LEDs, some wire, and a watch battery these could be made DIY for a few dollars after the printer cost. You can get a decent 3D printer for 200 bucks these days.

They won’t be as stylish, but they’d do the job just fine.

Should they though? The average lifespan of a car is 12 years. Even if they got someone to pay the subscription the entire time, that’s like 5% of the value of the car, spread over a length of time that makes it almost worthless. They could more easily charge an extra 1500 for the car, which is more money and it’s money they get now and isn’t picked apart by inflation.

It’s not especially good financially in the short or long term and is harmful to the brand image and customer loyalty.

Who is gonna end up fucking it up so bad Nintendo gets the precedent they need to shut down all emulation forever.

Yeah, but modern consoles come with as little as 512 gigs of storage.

I know about all of those. But so many websites only accept PayPal - especially small businesses. There’s a bunch of regulatory hurdles a website doesn’t have to worry about if they just have PayPal take care of everything related to payment.

They’re trying to argue that an EULA isn’t binding because they can’t sign away their rights, and thats legally incorrect in this case.

Recognizing reality is different than endorsing it.

And that’s the one we can refuse to buy.

But let’s be honest - people won’t. They’ll buy it in record numbers - just not on Linux.

You’re buying a license to play a game. Rockstar is not obligated to ensure it’s available to you indefinitely.

They implemented this 10 years after the game’s release. It’s harder to vote with your wallet at that point.

If Google takes money to host an ad that’s malware, they should be able to be prosecuted for it.

This is different than simply hosting community content that they can’t reasonably moderate. They’re being given money to distribute these ads, so they can afford to moderate them.

Which should be easy anyway. Ads shouldn’t be able to install third-party shit from the advertisers on user computers. Google can easily restrict what can be included on an ad package.

If you have reason to believe someone is in mortal danger, your response shouldn’t be to mail a letter giving them 30 days to respond.

You send police to the scene where they secure the potential suspect and make sure there’s nothing going on.

PS3 is the trickiest. They had that weird Cell architecture which is more difficult to emulate than simply “less-powerful x86” emulation required for more-recent consoles.

Yeah. I’ve noticed the new generation coming into the workplace can’t do shit on a computer.

They’ve grown up on apps that have simple interfaces and limited options. Give them the freedom and power of a workstation and you’ll find they never learned to learn real software.
