Lol uh I mean I don’t think the author* is giving the generally normal people just working their job enough credit. In my anecdotal experience, the growth mindset stuff is just an excuse to say certain things at meetings, or make certain decisions, nobody is extremely bought in or anything.

In fact, I knew some folks that left Microsoft because of the growth mindset changes for more “old school” places like Boeing.

Generally speaking I think all these companies have some kind of cultish exterior, I can say this about Google, Apple, Amazon and Facebook for sure. If you’re ever let inside the walls though, it’s mostly regular people trying to live their lives.

I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, I’m saying a lot of people find themselves in that (bad) situation either outside their control, or they can be manipulated, coerced, pressured, or hell use your imagination.

Not saying there aren’t bad or stupid middle managers, but usually the middle manager is the person who got shoved into a “management” position they probably didn’t want, and all they really get to do is take all the heat when decisions they didn’t make blow up in their face. It also usually comes with false promises of raises but upper management never really intends on giving it.

Androids best advantage used to be full control of the device… Those were the days. Then it started with saying they know better than you, then locking you out. Now I’m waiting on a new, better solution.

Honestly it’s not like native Linux is too far fetched, but there would have to be a big open source common ground device collaboration.

The fact that people pay hundreds of dollars for this OS to get advertised to is insulting. Same energy as these smart TVs that feel like they have the right to show you ads.

I will say that the Google Auth prompt in particular is just this huge nuisance and a horrible experience. People should feel stupid for including it in their web experience.

I loathe what part of the security community has become with the stunt hacking and vuln naming. That being said, I doubt it’s some conspiracy. I don’t know all the details but it wouldn’t be exceptional to identify a bug that has existed in processor firmware or legacy code for a long time.

People are looking at this stuff all the time, both professionally and for fun. You could make the case that it’s inevitable that there will be exploits found that affect a huge population.

In the end, as long as the layman gets smarter about computer security, the better people will react to vuln drops.

I’m over the era of ads dominating our lives. I know not everyone can do so, but I’m willing to pay a fair rate for a fair search and AI service. If we have to continue to live in this system then I think we should better enable competition in the tech space and stop some of these mafia business monopoly tactics.

Some companies are just disgustingly greedy. I pay for a new TV, for example, and that thing is trying to download ads and report my usage non-stop and I paid fairly to own the device. I’d support any political party that actually wants to protect consumers from the nonsense business pull.
