The article is only referring to per device keys and passkeys that lock them on that device. In other words, someone would need to be able to get your device’s key, decrypt it or brute your passkey, spoof or steal your device somehow, and send the key under it’s identity. I’m sorry, but I don’t think the few people that could do that would be wasting their time to do it to little old you. For most people, their insignificance is the best security they have.

Yeah I have tried it, but didn’t have luck unless I was driverless and that meant losing velocity. Maybe I configured wrong, it was kind of confusing but the internet said it was facing the same issues as me. Mainly this was for Roland stuff.
I was going to just get a laptop for Windows to record onto next to instruments and then transfer, but I’d rather just be able to plug into the DAW.
Yeah, peripherals lol. All my sim stuff is working brilliantly in Linux, however I still have some audio production stuff I need Windows for. Unfortunately, due to the need for minimal hardware latency and all that, Wine and VMs aren’t an option. Also a lack of drivers for some midi devices sucks.
I like my PC being my PC. The more it does things I don’t ask of it or tell it to do, the more I will seek alternatives.
One of the most frustrating parts of MS products these days is that you’re just along for the ride. And unlike Apple which is just the same, MS has far less intuitive behaviour or method. I would say their products are for beginners or those not tech literate, but the failure rate and amount of complex troubleshooting required for MS products and environments are easily the most challenging and frequent. It does not help that Windows Update constantly introduces new issues to the OS and other software while undoing any previous workarounds.
That company doesn’t get to touch my stuff anymore. It’s like trusting your car to a four year old.

Uuuuh… This place is a breeding ground of heavily biased propaganda. Just look at your feed, it’s all news articles reinforcing a side of things. It’s got its fair share of users that don’t look at things from a broad perspective and most get mad when they perceive their opinion is being challenged, even when it’s not. That’s why it’s riddled with posts that aren’t for interest; they’re rooted in agenda that is to either push narrative or reinforce ego.
And if your filter lists aren’t full of users, communities, and instances, it’s very plausible your mind my be one that’s easily duped, because the shits got to be one of the most obvious places on the internet to spot it. Part of the Lemmy experience is maintaining and customising the feed.
That’s any smart device. Unless you’re the one.doimg the updates.yoirself, they will all become obsolete as technology evolves. This is the case here too; sounds they just don’t have enough people using them to justify figuring out how to keep them working as new devices and platforms roll on. 9.5 years is an alright run, comparatively.

Toaster is good. We’ve used that for years and it’s memed hard. Its origin is toward AI and physical robots. Even though it’s a slur based on the first model Cylon having a toaster face, it implies robots are simple and they generate ridiculous amounts of heat to do a simple task.
We don’t need to reinvent the wheel here just because someone had a viral video on TikTok. Clanker sounds so dumb too. Especially for protocol bots that have no moving parts beyond data centre fans and pumps.
It’s more like comparing a review of Chapter 1 to a book report.
We know a computer is faster at things. It relies on that to perform iterations, overcoming the core shortfall of actual intelligence. Whereas the ideas a human gets are established almost instantly, especially with experience, but they perform slower.
Literally, this is the “development” in software development.
It does feel that way. UK bureaucracy is just one giant guinea pig stunting it’s own commonwealth.

Yesterday it tried to tell me Duration.TotalYears() and Number.IsNaN() were M functions in the first few interactions. I immediately called it out and for the first time ever, it doubled-down.
I think I’m at a level where, for most cases, what I ask of LLMs for coding is too advanced, else I just do it myself. This results in a very high counts of bullshit. But even for the most basic stuff, I have to take the time to read all of it and fix or optimise mistakes.
That’s not disturbing; that’s completely fucked up.
If they want to buy data to use for AI, they can pay someone to license their voice for its use. What they’ve done is no different to bootlegging, but it’s worse because it’s personally identifiable data.
It will burst. AI is improving at the same rate it always has and no one’s surprised, just LLMs have gotten attention from normal users who seem to think “this is AI”.
For actual AI, nothing has changed. You still need extremely well governed data and lots and lots of controlled training, lots and lots of condition farming and resolving, all at considerable cost not worth it for BAU, just AI-soecific projects.
It’s already bursting, as people realise what is AGI and what is non-logic LLMs and why the latter has limited use, especially with awful mass “training”.
The most realistic outcome is that LLMs are able to assist in increasing the pace of AGI.
They’ll blame this for more ads and enough people will say, “Oh, that makes sense.”

I think all my SSDs are Samsung. Nvme are Kingston and so I like to think they have thick Jamaican accents, mon. No issues with any of it and some of that storage is getting real old.
Thing with PC parts is it’s worth paying a bit more for quality. Ends up being much cheaper in the long term.
